‘Show Up And Show Off’ Your Skills With Adam Deacon
Anuvahood star Adam Deacon has teamed up with UK project somewhereto_ for a competition to ‘show up and show off’ your skills in the lead up to the Olympics. The BAFTA award winning actor and director has joined forces with the Legacy Trust UK funded project, helping young people to do the things they love within arts, culture and sport...
Adam said: “I’m a massive believer in giving young people the chance to show off what they can do because there’s so much undiscovered talent out there.”
‘Somewhereto_show off’ was launched last Thursday in London and featured performances by singers Juliyaa and Dionne Reid, British yo-yo champ Krisztian Kaluzsa, beat-boxing extraordinaire Rupert Oldridge and live art by Adam from Grafitti Life. The diverse display made for one heck of a lively morning for unsuspecting commuters! The stage will now continue to travel, visiting landmark venues in Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff this June and July.
The aim of the competition is to inspire young people around the UK to show up and show off their talent, whether it’s free-running, fire breathing or football free-styling – anything goes. What’s up for grabs is the chance for 10 of the entrants to perform at a high-profile secret somewhereto_ location during the games in August. One overall winner will win the chance to feature in their very own film directed by Adam Deacon in Rio de Janeiro - home of the 2016 Olympics!
Deacon expressed his excitement for the project, saying he is “really excited to be part of a competition that will be showcasing talented young people throughout the summer.” He also promises he won’t be as cruel as Simon Cowell when it comes to judging!
Young people will have until July 11 to enter the competition. Show up, show off and have a jolly good time!
