'showcase Live' Re-Launch Proves A Huge Success
Last week saw the much anticipated return of music event, 'Showcase Live'. After a six-month break, the bi-monthly event, held at Stamford Bridge Stadium in Fulham, returned with a bang! With past performances from the likes of Jessie J and JLS, to name a few, the west London showcase had a lot to live up to on its grand return and, thankfully, it didn’t disappoint…
Held at the swanky Under The Bridge lounge, the show kicked off at 7.30pm. Filled with a mix of music lovers, musicians, music industry folk and celebs – such as Lemar, Jade Ewen (Sugababes), Encore and others – the atmosphere was positive, fun and, most importantly, all about the music.
Six acts took to the stage on the night, from an indie/pop singer, to a soulful acoustic artist and an urban/pop girl band. But genre and taste aside, what all six acts had in common is that they were all genuinely really good. There were no weak links to the line-up and every act deserved their slot on that stage.
One of the stand-out performances came from Will Heard. His simple but beautiful acoustic set, accompanied with soulful vocals, proved this talented singer/songwriter is definitely one to watch. Girl band Vida's performance was also impressive and they were particularly popular with the audience.
The all-singing, all-dancing and rapping foursome – managed by JLS' Ortise Williams – exuded a type of energy and charisma that is noticeably vacant in most of today’s current girl groups. If their set is anything to go by, then Vida are set to make a big splash in 2012.
Overall, it was a fun evening. But what separates 'Showcase Live' from other live music events is that the acts that take to the stage at Under The Bridge are very likely to make it. So if you want to check out the music stars of tomorrow, then head down to the next Showcase Live.
