Songwriting Was A Bitter Sweet Experience For Emeli Sande
Emeli Sande has been involved in writing songs for top UK acts such as Susan Boyle, Cheryl Cole and Tinie Tempah; however it has been a tough experience for the star. After penning chart-topping tunes through a publishing deal, Sande found that the record labels could only see her as a songwriter and not as a music artist…
au.yahoo.com reported Emeli as saying: "They could hear that they were good songs, but they wanted to give them to these artists that were already on."
Trying to find her sound in the market led to her feeling like "a bit like a clown" as people were always trying to search for something a little bit out of the ordinary. Evidently, the ‘My Kind Of Love’ singer uncovered that it was a process of "knocking on everyone's door trying to get them to believe in what you are doing".
Sande is your perfect success story as now she has found her sound at her label who appreciate her unique style and allowed her to belt her pipes over R&B beats and pop grooves in 'Our Version of Events', which debuted at no.1 In the UK.
Emeli Sande's main aim through her music is "to make a connection between the world around us and the charts" - something which she has undoubtedly achieved in such a short period.
