The Sopranos Star James Gandolfini Passes Away At 51
New Jersey-bred actor James Gandolfini has passed away at just 51-years old. The actor was most famously known for his role as an therapy-going mob boss on The Sopranos, a TV show which is generally known as one of the best TV shows of all time. Gandolfini passed away whilst on holiday in Rome; allegedly due to a heart attack. It was said that he was intending to go to the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily...
His managers, Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders, released this statement last night (19): "It is with immense sorrow that we report our client James Gandolfini passed away today while on holiday in Rome, Italy.
"Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply. He was a special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect.
"He touched so many of us over the years with his humour, his warmth and his humility."
The Sopranos creator David Chase said: "He is one of the greatest actors of this or any time. A great deal of that genius resided in those sad eyes."
Celebrities flooded the Twittersphere to express their shock and sadness over the tragic loss to the acting community.
Shystie wrote: “Damn, sad to hear James Gandolfini has died, loved him in 'True Romance' & 'The Mexican' plus more.. Only 51 as well R.I.P :(“
Whilst Mikill Pane commented: “R.I.P. James Gandolfini. I hope the choir at your funeral contains some amazing sopranos.”
Samuel L. Jackson also expressed his grief. “Massive blow to the acting community today... The passing of James Gandolfini. So talented. My heart goes out to his family!”
Ricky Gervais tweeted: “Damn. RIP James Gandofini. An amazing actor that made arguably the greatest drama of all time, & a funny, sweet, gentle giant off screen.”
