Trey Songz In Dispute With Reality Tv Star Over Catchphrase Rights
Trey Songz recently instructed his lawyers to begin legal proceedings against a reality TV show star, after Songz claimed the star copied his "Yuup!" catchphrase during parts of the show. Dave 'The Mogul' Hester – from the A&E Network’s auction-based show, 'Storage Wars' – is the man at the centre of Trey’s allegations...
However, in a surprising twist, Hester has hit back at Trey’s claims in spectacular fashion by filing a thorough lawsuit of his own, explaining that there are distinct differences in how both men pronounce the catchphrase.
Hester’s suit hilariously describes Trey’s use of the catchphrase as an "animal-like or non-human squeal, which begins with a distinct 'yeee' sound before finishing with a squeal-like 'uuuup' sound."
Despite the comedy undertones of Hester’s lawsuit, the reality TV star is taking his case seriously, and is seeking unspecified damages and legal assurance that Songz won't "interfere" with his use of the catchphrase in the future. It is believed that Hester trademarked his version back in September.
