Uk Rap Rundown
It’s that time again where I round up what has been going on in the world of UK rap. Last week saw footage going up from Giggs live set at Boiler Room where he performed his well-known tracks including ‘Talking The Hardest’, ‘Look What The Cat Dragged In’, ‘Hustle On’ and many more. The last ever Sickabit showcase was also on and saw performances from the likes of Cashtastic, Scorcher, Dru Blu plus more. Dru Blu also paid a girl £200 for twerking on stage…
This young talent has been one I’ve been watching for a while now. Now Jadakiss has decided to start a D Block Europe he has signed Young Adz along with Aero Sinc. They took to Westwood’s Crib Session to announce it and also drop freestyles, starting with the general himself. Watch out for more coming from them soon and congratulations guys!
We’ve also had a healthy amount of videos and new material coming out last week. Wretch 32 dropped the video to his new single ‘Doing OK’ that features Jacob Banks who both come from the Renowned family. The video is set in Africa with the visuals matching the production perfectly along with the story of this inspirational and apologetic track.
North London rapper Squeeks has been a bit quiet recently and I was happy to hear a new joint from him called ‘Clean Cut’. This track is full of passion and I can hear his hunger in his deliverance. The track should be on his forthcoming mixtape ‘Presidential Musiq’ which will be available at the end of August.
Colours Miyagi’s name is one that’s been popping up a lot this year and he continues with the consistency but not losing his quality of work with ‘Real Rap’. He keeps it simple with the visuals to the track taken from the ‘Where’s My Money (Reloaded)’ mixtape, but still impresses with his flow and content.
They are known for their wordplay and lyrical ability gaining many loyal, dedicated fans. Now is their time to shine as they show us with their new track ‘My Story’ how well they are at storytelling and how deep they can be. Krept & Konan really set Twitter ablaze yesterday as we heard the first track for their forthcoming mixtape ‘Young Kingz’ and it makes me genuinely excited for the whole project as it seems they have delved into their hearts.
‘My Story’ is heartbreakingly emotional but also shows how they especially Konan survived hard times and thanks their manager Vash and Skepta for helping them.
