Urban Style Review
March saw some unusually cold temperatures during the beginning of the spring season, until finally we were blessed with some sunshine towards the later part. I travelled to the US in April to find that when it comes to fashion, the US and the UK are very much on par. Everyone’s keeping it fly and fresh, with faded denims, Jordan’s, retro looks, and a lot of designer gear from YSL to Givenchy, Balenciaga and much more. This month, I’ve complied a collection of the best, as always - starting with ladies first…
UK songstress Leona Lewis was recently photographed at The Body Shop in London’s Westfield shopping centre to launch her own cruelty-free makeup line. For the event she wore an ASOS colour block panel shirt dress, with her usual flawlessly gorgeous striking pink lips. Totally on point.
Draya was recently spotted at Barneys in Los Angeles with her stylist looking uber pretty in Christian Louboutin shoes and a printed two piece by Preme Houston and a LV bag - Ooh la la. Dray’s Basketball Wives buddy and close friend Malaysia Pargo was also seen in an outfit I would wear from head to toe - a Céline logo top, black leather pants, a Céline bag, and Christian Louboutin studded peep toes. Love Love Love.
Brandy is always super cute; I think she has the most adorable fashion style. She recently stopped by 106 & Park wearing a Veda embellished leather jacket, embroidered flare skirt, and silver cut out booties. Two words - Too cute.
Rihanna is always in the mix when it comes to my fashion review; her style is so eclectic and she oozes trendsetter qualities. Ms Fenty launched her fashion line at River Island last month. During her Diamonds World Tour, Ri was seen rocking a custom made Adam Selman Givenchy creation.
The Bajan bombshell appeared onstage in some notably lavish jewellery by Lanvin - a stunning Dedale Strass necklace first worn in December 2012. Keeping it strictly Lanvin, Rihanna wore an amazingly Swarovski crystal embellished jumpsuit with a Dedale choker and a Dedale jewel belt with a crystal link cuff. Can she ever boast too much swag?
Ms Nicki Minaj has been displaying an array of stunning pictures of late via her fans social networking pages; the most recent show her draped in Alexander McQueen and Christian Louboutin - two amazing designers. This time she wore the hell out of an Alexander McQueen pink fitted mesh dress and unique Christian Louboutin triboclou zebra-print calf hair and python ankle boots.
Right before she dropped her interim mixtape titled ‘RockaByeBaby’ for her deserving fans, Cassie Ventura was spotted in a Brian Lichtenberg ‘Homies’ sweatshirt out and about - these sweatshirts are bang on trend at the moment. Cassie was seen at Hugo’s restaurant in West Hollywood wearing a fresh black-white graffiti version by the brand, adding more dopeness by rocking it with leather pants, and what looked like the latest sneaks by Givenchy in all white.
Keyshia Cole stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to perform ‘Trust and Believe’ from her new album ‘Woman To Woman’ wearing a stunning LBD number in the form of an Alexander Wang suspension fitted tank dress. Her stylist Olori Swank took a quick Instagram picture of her before the moving performance, completing the look with a pair of darling ankle strapped Gucci Victoire heels.
Renowned stylist Ugo Mozie keeps Chris Brown’s swag well and truly turned up, and for Chris’s most recent trip to New York, the r&b prince was spotted downtown in an Opening Ceremony Varsity Patch Jacket, Joe’s Jeans and Jordan’s. He accessorized with an Alexander Wang Neoprene Wallie Backpack.
New judge on The Voice US is our beloved Usher who recently hit up The Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon to talk about his new role on the show. Usher wore an Emporio Armani quilted bomber jacket, Alexandre Plokhov Asymmetrical Front Trousers and coveted Balenciaga arena sneakers in red. He loves the red footwear at the moment and rocks it effortlessly, I might add.
US actor Lance Gross, who appears in the latest new movie by Tyler Perry called Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, was in attendance at the Heineken Affinity Awards wearing a lovely sweater by G-STAR Hopewell. It features a shawl collar, single-button fastening, and orange stripes on the collar and cuffs. Polishing off the casual ensemble, Lance rocked classic timbs and dark fade jeans.
