Urban Style Review
February is the perfect time of year to prep your wardrobe for spring, so store away those fur coats and cosy chunky jumpers as the winter months come to an end and the milder weather kicks in. Apologies for the abysmal weather we’ve been having though; it’s literally been rain rain rain in the UK this year and unusually cold temperatures overseas in the US. February saw the start of London and New York Fashion Week, so we’ve got a lot to review. Here’s the lowdown.
Former Girl's Aloud star Cheryl was spotted heading to the Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2014 show in February, wearing one of the designers pieces. From the high fashion brand’s Resort 2014 collection, Cole wore an animal print coat teamed up with black pumps where she sat front row with UK singer Ellie Goulding.
In London also this month the 2014 BAFTA Awards took place. Leading actresses, actors and TV personalities from all around the world attended the prestigious event. I have only one favourite this year - Naomie Harris wins hands down in a gorgeous Gucci gown in deep fuchsia, black Christian Louboutin pumps and a Rauwolf clutch bag. Fab.
For the style-scouting devoted fashionistas, Jennifer Lopez was recently spotted at her 'We Are One' video shoot with Pitbull in Florida wearing Emilio Pucci spring 2014 printed shorts and Giuseppe Zanotti Coline shell bead embellished sandals. Too hot.
This has to be my favourite look for Rita Ora this year so far; she looks incredibly beautiful. During New York Fashion Week, Rita looked chic and seductively sexy at Donna Karan’s fall 2014 show in a sheer inset drape dress from the designer. She also dazzled at this year’s Brit Awards in a gorgeous yellow Prada gown with intricate emerald green stones lacing the strap line - I’m in love with the bold choice of colour which highlights her beauty.
Labrinth also attended the 2014 BRIT Awards wearing a Chapman Brothers x Louis Vuitton floral embroidered blazer, teamed up with an all-black ensemble underneath. Tinie Tempah also wore the same jacket last month, pairing it with a casual shirt and cropped navy trousers and loafers. They both pull it off, but which look do you prefer?
Tinie has a whole lot of unique gentleman swag these days; he was also spotted this month at the Burberry Prorsum show at London Fashion Week. Perfect for winter, Tinie held it down in a fur coat black jeans and your classic boy band boots of the smarter variety. For this look I just would have loved to reveal the blingage on Tinie’s neck; very Kanye West!
The Annual 45th NAACP Image Awards took place in California and was presented by TV One. Male celebs took to the red carpet in their tailored suits, smart shirts and sharp shoes. Tyrese showed us how navy can work perfectly complimenting traditional black and white suit attire. Very impressed.
Usher Raymond took to the streets of New York City wearing a raccoon tail hat this past weekend, opting for an American frontier look with a Navaho print jacket, tan trousers and classic timberland boots - an ensemble which boasts warmth and comfort and of course style and swag in a very chilly city.
At the Vanity Fair and FIAT Young Hollywood Party at No Vacancy in LA towards the end of the month The Jonas brothers caught my eye, with Nick Jonas casual yet notably polished in a black long coat, tile shirt, grey denim and black shoes. Joe Jonas added some polka dot panache to a classic suit, becoming playful with black patent sneakers.
Until Spring time!
