Wiley Opens Up About Life-Changing Knife Incident
In a recent interview with The Voice Newspaper, grime MC Wiley opened up about the knifing incident that almost made him stop making music. Wiley, real name Richard Cowie, has developed notoriety within the musical stratosphere over the last couple of years for his lack of punctuality, especially when it comes to live shows and interviews, but the godfather of grime has claimed that it's this that may have saved his life...
He said: "Sometimes, I’d have a booking, and there’d be all 40 man outside waiting to start trouble with me. So it wasn’t always easy for me. In fact, I’m probably still alive because I didn’t turn up to every r*ss booking. It’s dangerous out there."
Three years ago, Wiley was slashed down the left side of his face, which he admits affected his self-esteem for a while and has left him with a permanent scar. The MC has evidently made a positive comeback and has released of a number of EPs and free tracks over the last couple of years – not forgetting his entertaining Twitter rants.
Wiley's return to Big Dada has also culminated in the release of another release with '100% Publishing', which is out now.
