Picture it - the sun high in the sky, thousands of excited music-loving festival goers having fun and the new collaboration between Grime superstar Wretch 32 and Drum & Bass boss Wilkinson blaring out through the speakers. That's what we’re predicting for Summer 2016.
The track in question is called ‘Flatline’ and is the first time that the two artists have worked together. Taking Wilkinson’s expertise in creating an energetic, dance-friendly Drum & Bass beat and combining it with the brilliant wordplay and hugely respected flow of Wretch 32 isn’t something we saw coming, but we absolutely love it. Talking about making the track and why he wanted to get Wretch involved, Wilkinson said,
“I wanted to do something different with this record. I wanted to keep it on a Drum and Bass tip but work with an artist to bridge the DNB and Hip Hop scenes in an interesting and distinctly British fashion. I'm into REAL rappers and personally for me, the finest lyricist in the UK is Wretch. He's a rapper’s rapper! His punchlines and delivery are incredible and I'm really happy with how the record turned out!"
‘Flatline’ is the first single to be taken from Wilkinson’s forthcoming second album and offers an exciting look into the kind of quality we can expect to see across the rest of the release. With confirmed appearances at a number of festivals across the UK for Wilkinson, we’re expecting to hear this one played out across the entire season and with an incredibly Summer-infused vibe weaved into its foundations, it’ll definitely get the party started.
