The Wrestler Premieres
The Wrestler had its UK premiere in Leicester Square last night with star Mickey Rourke in attendance.
The movie tells the story of faded wrestler Randy The Ram Robinson trying to get his life back on track. It also stars Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.
Playing the lead role is real life comeback kid Rourke who told MTV News about his character:
"Randy is a professional wrestler who is in the twilight of his career and he thinks he has one more game in him, one more shot. He's looking for that edge to come back and he's sort of trying to keep his body fit, trying to use the enhancement drugs to keep him going."
Mickey- who is tipped for an Oscar for his work in the film- trained for over seven months- putting on weight and learning to wrestle. He told us he empathises with legends of the ring:
"The guys that I met that I have a lot of respect for are guys like Rick Flare, Rowdy Piper, British Beef Cake."
Finally we asked the smooth actor if he could wrestle with anyone in the world who would he go for.
The star explained: "I cant remember her name but I saw her on the beach in Miami!"
