Gene Simmons' Daughter On The X Factor USA

Kiss rocker's offspring auditions for US reality show - and impresses judges...

The daughter of Kiss rocker The X Factor USA.
Sophie Tweed-Simmons' audition was screened on the American version of the reality TV franchise this week, and the 19-year-old student insisted that she wanted to be judged on her own merits - not because she had a famous dad.

She said: "My dad is Gene Simmons from KISS. I really just want to step out of being the daughter of the guy from KISS. I want to be my own person and hopefully this is the way to show the world who I am.
"I grew up with music but I didn't ever want to sing before because I didn't want my dad's help with it. It's just hard when the crowd grows into my mob of pictures. I want to prove to myself I have talent."
But she was rumbled as soon as she walked in front of judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, LA Reid and Demi Lovato - because Demi recognised her straight away.

"That's where I know you," she exclaimed. "You're Nick's sister. Nick Simmons. Gene Simmons' kid."

And when SiCo asked Sophie what her dad thought about her auditioning, it became clear that it was a bone of contention.
She replied: "They didn't know I was doing this until yesterday and they're pretty upset with me. I just didn't want any help."
To which Simon answered: "Good for you. That's the way to do it."
And the judges were complimentary after her performance of Adele's Make You Feel My Love, with Britters saying she had "an amazing voice" and Simon saying she had a "very interesting tone".
She was put through to boot camp.

LA Reid recently revealed how he considered [uuid=aa52d272-223d-4c6b-a91d-7f9e6b6a5469]rejecting LadyGaGa[/uuid] to be his biggest mistake as a record label boss.
