SINGLES

The xx – ‘On Hold’

The trio’s brilliant new single ‘On Hold’ sees the group inch their closest yet to making a pop track, but if you’re a long-time fan of The xx, don’t let that put you off. ‘On Hold’ still sounds distinctly like the same three introverts from London you love.

Featuring a Hall & Oates sample from ‘I Can’t Go For That’, ‘On Hold’ is warm and textured. You could definitely dance to it. (Yes, you’re allowed to dance to The xx.)

‘On Hold’ doesn’t sound a world away from Jamie xx’s In Colour, which makes the most sense in the world, considering (if you’re new and didn’t know already) that he’s in the frickin’ band and hot off the release/tour of that Grammy-nominated record. It’s great, trust us. Give it a spin.

Childish Gambino -‘Me and Your Mama’

This six-minute-long funk & soul epic heralds Childish Gambino’s long-awaited return to music. The first track from upcoming album'Awaken, My Love!', this is the first we’ve heard from Donald Glover (who is currently making it big as an actor on the massively popular comed-drama Atlanta) since 2014’s 'STN MTN/KAUAI 'and 2013 LP 'Because The Internet'. Is it any good? Zane Lowe played it six times in a row last night on Beats 1. Need we say more?

'Awaken, My Love!' is out December 2. Get that date penciled in.

Sia Ft. Miguel & Queen Latifah – ‘Satisfied’

Sia, Miguel & Queen Latifah have teamed up to make this recording of ‘Satisfied’, which will feature on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s upcoming Hamilton Mixtape. Hitting on December 2 (Childish Gambino and now this – what is so appealing about December 2, guys?), the mixtape will also feature contributions from the world’s happiest man, Chance the Rapper, as well as the Roots, Wiz Khalifa and more.

Zara Larsson – ‘I Would Like’

Fresh from her EMA win at the weekend (more on that here), Zara's unleashed a new ‘treat’ for fans. "I would like to get to know you baby / I would like to get under your sexy body," Zara sings on this bouncy ‘not a single but still definitely not terrible’ new song. We can’t wait to hear the Swedish pop star’s debut, which is going to be brilliant – fact. It should be out in early 2017.

THEY. – ‘What You Want’

THEY. are making waves. They’ve already toured with Bryson Tiller and collaborated with Skrillex on ZHU’s ‘Working For It’. The LA-based R&B duo have now released a new track, ‘What You Want’. Check it. Also, earlier this week, THEY. Tweeted ‘F*ck Trump”. We can feel ourselves warming up to them already.

Fergie – ‘Life Goes On’

Earlier this week, Fergie tweeted: “In the midst of all the madness, remember life is beautiful.” She’s now released new song ‘Life Goes On’, which sounds exactly like every other tropical pop single released this year. ‘Life Goes On’ follows this summer’s ‘M.I.L.F.$’, and will probably feature on her forthcoming second album, 'Double Dutchess.'

ALBUMS

Emeli Sandé - 'Long Live The Angels'

The official voice of all UK sporting montages from the past four years is back with a new album, 'Long Live The Angels'. Emeli’s incredible, towering voice makes a return (obviously), and this time the singer is tackling her recent divorce head on. It sounds exactly how you’d expect.

Olly Murs - '24HRS'

Olly Murs has just released his fifth album – yes fifth – since he didn’t win the X Factor back in 2009. He’s done ‘alright’, that Olly. Murs has been talking about how this is a break-up album in interviews, and it features tracks such as ‘Grow Up’ and ‘You Don’t Know Love’.

Nathan Sykes - 'Unfinished Business'

Nathan's debut solo album finally gets its release...
