The XX Win XFM New Music Award

The South London group take the prize…

The XX have won the XFM New Music Award 2010 for their superb self-titled debut album.

The award goes to the artist judged to have made the Best British Debut Album Of 2009.
XX was released in August last year and impressed critics and fans with it’s brooding bass heavy sound and soft vocals.
Judging the award for the radio station were artists including Tim Burgess from Charlatans, Tom Clarke from The Enemy and Tom Smith from Editors as well as industry experts.
Smith commented on the album: “It's true originality… it's something you'll come back to again and again and again. For whatever reason, they're resonating with critics and fans, which is good.”
