T.I. Back Behind Bars
The rapper was released from jail this week...
T.I. is back behind bars just a few days after being released from jail.
The rapper was released from Forrest City Correctional Facility in Arkansas on 31 August after serving 10 months for a probation violation.
He was due to serve out the remainder of his 11-month sentence in a halfway house, but was taken back into custody on a technicality. The No Mercy star angered authorities by being transported to the halfway house in a luxury tour bus. According to procedure, inmates must specify what vehicle they will be using – which T.I. apparently neglected to do.
His lawyer Steve Sadow said the incident was a misunderstanding. “We are confident there was never any intent to mislead or to misstate the method of transportation,” he told Radar Online. “If there was some confusion or misunderstanding surrounding the method of transportation, we hope to clear it up quickly so T.I. can return to the halfway house.”
Sadow told our US Team that the police were fully aware of his mode of transport before he drove off. “T.I. got on a private bus in the prison's parking area in full view of BOP [Federal Bureau of Prisons] employees. Indeed, he was actually escorted to the bus by a prison guard,” he said.
The star's wife Tameka 'Tiny' Cottle told TMZ that some police even took photos with the rapper in front of the tour bus before he drove off.
