Tim Burton Is Going To Direct Disney's Live Action Version Of Dumbo

Actors and CGI to be combined for remake of cartoon classic...

Hot on the heels of Cinderella and Maleficent (aka Sleeping Beauty), Disney is set to revive another of its classic cartoons as a spectacular live-action movie.

And this time it's Dumbo getting a spruce up and a lick of paint - with the help of iconic director Tim Burton.

The filmmaker has signed up to helm the new project - which will combine live action with a bit of CGI (we're guessing that might be for the flying elephant).

Transformers franchise screenwriter Ehren Kruger will be scripting the remake of the much-loved 1941 classic.

And already the internet has been having fun with the comic potential of Burton's vision of the lovable elephant.

Our favourite treatment so far is this vision of the lead character - played of course by Burton's frequent collaborator Johnny Depp.

But this lovely gothic elephant is also worthy of mention.

Meanwhile on Twitter reactions have varied, with some fans excited at the prospect of the new movie and others predictably outraged.
