Singletons Report Technical Glitch As Tinder App Crashes On Saturday Night

Happy to blame this glitch for an embarrassing lack of matches.

If you had high hopes of securing a magical Christmas romance before the 25th rolled around, the fact that Tinder pretty much conked out on Saturday night might have thrown something of a spanner in the works.

Users of the app were left scratching their heads when a series of connection issues disrupted the usual service and resulted in a bunch of people being unable to either log in, swipe left or right, or even message their previous matches.

According to the Down Detector website, problems with the dating app first surfaced around 8pm on the 16th December, with dozens of people filing complaints about the service not operating as usual.

Half the reports filed involved Tinder users complaining under the broad term ‘service connection issues’ while 40 per cent of people claimed they were unable to log in at all.

It wasn’t a complete disaster over at Tinder HQ – with only 67 people reporting the issue as of 9pm last night. Considering the app boasts around 50 million users in the UK per month, that’s not the most horrifying stat we've ever read.

Even so, users took to Twitter to declare that glitch “a disaster” and pointed out that the universe seemed to be suggesting they should “go outside” to find a potential date. Sacrilege.

It looks like Tinder is up and running as usual today, so get swiping if you're eager to secure aS.O. in time for NYE. May the odds be ever in your favour.
