Jack Ryan Creator Tom Clancy Dies Aged 66

Best-selling US author Tom Clancy, world famous for his Jack Ryan series of novels, has died aged 66.
His publisher has confirmed that Clancy died at a Baltimore hospital near his Maryland home, but the cause of death has yet to be announced.


Clancy's most famous creation was CIA analyst Jack Ryan, with several of his adventures adapted into successful films, including The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games.
Ryan has been played onscreen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, while several highly successful video game titles, including Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, have been produced based on Clancy's ideas.
