Katie Holmes To Tom: Suri Is Our Priority In Divorce Battle
Katie Holmeshas reportedly reached out to estranged husband Tom Cruise in a bid to avoid t[uuid=cf2f03c8-94c8-4d9a-8428-d3fafe236b39]urning their divorce[/uuid] into a war.
According to The Mirror, the former Dawson's Creek actress has spoken to Cruise for the first time since their split, telling him that six-year old daughter Suri must be a priority for them both.
It is thought that Katie spoke to Tom on a phone belonging to one of her assistants after he called to wish Suri goodnight.
A friend claims that Holmes told Cruise: "Let’s just try and get through this for the sake of Suri. It’s not about us – she has to be our priority.”
A source went on to explain to the tabloid: "It was brief and very civil. Both appreciate that things can’t descend into all-out war.
"They are trying to be adult about things not least because there are children to think about. Tom and Suri have talked several times since the split so it was only a matter of time before Katie spoke to Tom herself.”
They continued: “It’s not ideal but as long as Tom gets to speak to Suri he doesn’t care.
"It breaks his heart to have to speak to her on the phone – and not face to face – but hopefully that will change soon.”
Earlier this week, Holmes was spotted [uuid=45236f4b-d0f9-4c68-84c3-137b63eb32c8]out and about in New York with Suri[/uuid] - where the pair spent time in an ice cream parlour.
The 33-year old actress allegedly told a reporter that she was "alright" after being asked how she was doing since announcing [uuid=cf2f03c8-94c8-4d9a-8428-d3fafe236b39]she was divorcing Cruise[/uuid] last Friday (29th June).
