Tom Daley 'Dating Movie Screenwriter'
Diver's boyfriend is reported to be acclaimed scribe Dustin Lance Black...
Tom Daley is reported to be dating an Oscar-winning Hollywood screenwriter twice his age.
The Olympic diver, 19, is claimed by The Sun to be in a long-term relationship with 39-year-old Dustin Lance Black - who won the Academy Award for best original screenplay in 2009 for Milk.
A friend of Tom's told the paper: "Dustin is very proud of Tom for making such a powerful statement about his sexuality — it's what he believes in doing.
"Dustin has given Tom the confidence to be himself. He's in awe of him and proud of him.
"He no longer minds people knowing they are together. They are officially in a long-term relationship and talking about having a future together.
"All of their friends are completely supportive of them as a couple.
"Tom is totally besotted with Dustin — they love each other and aren't concerned about what anyone says about their age difference."
The pair are reported to have hit it off after being introduced by mutual friends at the Soho Hotel in London earlier this year.
Black was widely admired for his 2009 Oscars acceptance speech, in which he told his personal story of growing up gay.
He said: "When I was 13 years old, my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative Mormon home in San Antonio, Texas, to California — and I heard the story of Harvey Milk.
"And it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life. It gave me the hope one day I could live my life openly as who I am and then maybe even I could fall in love and one day get married.
"I wanna thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to."
Daley has since responded to the dating reports, tweeting: "Thanks for your support :) Still Tom. Still diving. Going for gold in 2016. What I am or who I date shouldn't matter."
