Tom Daley Talks Life After Coming Out
Hunky diving star says men regularly hit on him...
Tom Daley has given his first interview since coming out online via YouTube last December, and has revealed he's been getting lots of male attention.
The 19-year-old Olympic medallist told The Sun that men come up and "offer it there and then", saying: "Some people come up to me and say, 'Do you want to go back?' and I'm like, 'What do you mean? The whole reason I did this was because I have a boyfriend.'"
Daley - who is now happily and openly dating his screenwriter boyfriend Dustin Lance Black - revealed that some friends and family have had reservations about his decision to come out.
"Everyone has been so supportive, everyone has been so nice about it," he explained. "But some people were saying to me, "You've got to think about what it is going to do to your career. What's going to happen if all of a sudden you don't get any sponsorship?'"
But the Splash star went on: "It doesn't matter because I am a diver and that's what I want to do, and that won't affect my diving in any way, shape or form."
And the reaction from the public has been largely positive, Tom says, even if some fans do drop the odd bombshell.
According to Tom, one lady congratulated him on coming out shortly after his now famous video, saying: "I'd just like to thank you because you inspired my son, when he saw your video it inspired him to tell me he was gay."
The diver went on: "And I was like, 'Oh wow! Oh my god. Tell him I said hi and good job,' and all that kind of stuff... And she was like, 'Yeah, but he does have a wife and three children.'
"And I was like, 'Oh s***.'"
