Tom Hiddleston Won’t Let Those Bond Rumours Die…
Ever since he knocked it out of the park as suave hotelier-turned-action-man Jonathan Pine in' The Night Manager,' we’ve been convinced Tom Hiddleston is the next 007 in waiting. And Hiddles just won’t let the dream die, admitting that the ongoing rumours are “very flattering”.
Obviously he stopped short of revealing whether or not it might actually happen, but he did take the opportunity in a recent interview to show off his inner fanboy, praising Daniel Craig as “sensational” and describing 'From Russia With Love 'as his favourite film.
“I think it's because [Bond] represents an archetype,” says Hiddleston when asked what makes 007 so special. “There's this idea of British strength which doesn't draw attention to itself but gets the job done. That's our brand. We know it's inelegant to blow your own trumpet and impolite to show how much you care, and yet we expect you to win! You don't find it in France or Spain.”
“Captain America is dressed in the American flag - the heroism is so much more overt. Bond is debonair, detached, good humoured, well mannered, efficient, charming..." Sounds familiar, eh Tom?
At this stage, the bookies seem convinced that the next man to don the famous tux will either be Hiddleston or Idris Elba. We certainly wouldn’t complain about the latter, but its easy to see why devout Hiddlestoners will be #TeamTom.
