Michael Bay To Leave Transformers Franchise?

Director hints that the fourth film could be his last...

Michael Bay has suggested he will not be at the helm for the next Transformers film - the fifth in the franchise.

Speaking to USA Today, the helmsman revealed he could step down from the director’s chair, saying: “There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make.

“I have a lot of stories to tell. And it’s about flexing new muscles.”

[related]Bay has directed all four of the films so far, including the massively successful fourth movie, Transformers: Age Of Extinction, which featured a new lead in Mark Wahlberg.

The director - who was also behind the camera for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot - said back in April that he considered the fourth instalment the first in a new trilogy.

So far there is no word on who might direct Transformers 5.
