9 Reasons Why Adult Scaredy-Cats Will Love Disney's Halloween Party
It's the perfect amount of spooky.
This year we were lucky enough to receive an invite to Disney’s annual Halloween jamboree, at Walt Disney World Florida. How amazing was it? Well let’s just say MTV's Cal King is still riding that Halloweeny sugar high.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an annual event running from September to the end of October, in which the whole of Magic Kingdom is festooned with spooky decorations and stays open late to play host to all kinds of creepy (but not very scary) ghouls.
Let’s just say we absolutely loved Disney’s Halloween Party. Why? Here are 9 very specific reasons.
1. It’s really not that scary.
Are you easily scared? Same. That’s why Disney does it so well – the party has all the spookiness of a PG-rated Halloween movie and all the charm of Ryan Reynolds at a speed-dating event.
2. You Get To Live The Kind of American Halloween You’ve Only Ever Seen In The Movies
Proper Halloween with its glowing pumpkins, beautiful decorations and spooky music might seem like it’d only happen in the movies, but it’s also in REAL LIFE (sort of) at Mickey’s party. We spent the whole time gaping at the decorations, which are EVERYWHERE.
3. They Let Adults Have Candy Too
It’s not just kids who get their mitts on that sweet, sweet Halloween candy, as several “Trick Or Treat” stations give out FREE SWEETS to anyone who wants it. Which is everyone, because it’s free candy. Glorious.
4. You Can Buy Halloweeny Treats
Among the special Disney-fied Halloween treats available are a Chocolate Worms and Dirt cupcake and a pumpkin spiced cupcake. It’s a snacker’s paradise.
5. The Attention To Detail Is Insane
Wherever you look, there’s something Halloweeny to look at. Pumpkins! More pumpkins! Other Halloween things! Argh! Candy!
6. Everyone Comes In Fancy Dress
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party seems to be a magnet for amazing Halloween outfits and the whole thing is pretty much a #CostumeGoals convention. From whole families dressed up as The Incredibles to one guy dressed as a giant inflatable Baymax, if you’re heading there, it’s best to be fancily dressed. Like this idiot.
7. The Parade of Villains Is Spooktacular
All your fave mean characters show up in the Boo To You Parade – Jafar! The Evil Queen! Pirates! Zombies! It’s an enormous, perfectly choreographed parade that’s just the right level of scary (i.e. not very scary.)
8. THERE’S A HOCUS POCUS SHOW
We’d bet that there are just as many fully-grown Hocus Pocus fans as kids, and being able to see a live show (with music! And fireworks!) is the ultimate for any fan. It’s a whole new story, and the actors are the spitting image of the Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. It’s an epic, spooky nostalgia-fest.
9. The Halloween-themed fireworks are (as always) insanely amazing.
Just look. LOOK. It really is the happiest (and spookiest) place in the world, and we’ll 100% be back next year.
