11 Of The World's Cheapest Beach Destinations For Beach Bums On A Budget
There’s literally nothing better than lying on a sun-drenched beach, a gentle breeze playing with your hair, the sound of waves gently rolling in, the smell of suncream in the air…
Sorry where were we?
Ah yes - sun, sand and sea: our souls yearn for them all year round, but unfortunately the same can’t be said for our bank balances. Which is why we’ve rounded up the World’s cheapest beachy destinations, for beach bums on a budget.
The Polish Riviera
When you think of Poland you probably don’t think ‘beach’ - but the Sopot and Hel Peninsula actually feature miles of sandy coastline, huge sand dunes, and cheap cheap cheap holiday resorts.
Cambodia
With return flights for under £500 quid and accommodation available at $5 a night, Cambodia’s beachy beauty is actually affordable. WAHEY. Try Sihanoukville for laid back traveller vibes.
Malta
Malta is Europe’s unsung hero, with glorious weather and picture-perfect beaches ideal for divers and sun-worshippers alike. The Blue Lagoon in Comino is picture perfect for those who want a strong insta-game.
Tenerife, Spain
Book a holiday to Tenerife in October/November for a bit of divine (and hot!) winter sun on the cheap. With both black and golden sand beaches to choose from, your beachy bum heart will be spoilt for choice.
Panama
Panama is the best-kept not-actually-a-secret of Central America. Bordered by both the Caribbean Sea and North Pacific Ocean, it’s got miles of gorgeous coastline *and* is significantly cheaper than neighbour Costa Rica. The San Blas islands look like an actual screensaver, just FYI.
Montenegro
It doesn’t make many ‘Top European Destination’ lists, but it should: not only does Montenegro have a 14km sandy beach (Velika Plaza, if you wanna Google it) on the Adriatic coast, but also affordable beachside hotels and stunning mountainous scenery.
Bulgaria
A much cheaper alternative to many beach destinations in Europe, with all of the same great qualities. Sun, sand and sea on a budget? Bulgaria’s where it’s at. Albena, near Varna (pictured), should give you a good taste of the region.
The Dominican Republic
If you’re looking for a Caribbean experience but don’t want to break the bank, The Dominican Republic is much kinder on the ol’ purse than it’s more popular counterparts the Bahamas or Aruba.
Menorca, Spain
Spain + beaches go together like… cookies and cream (i.e. really f***ing well), and Menorca is a highlight, especially for those keeping an eye on the budget. Accommodation, food, and drink are all a decent amount cheaper than more mainstream Spanish destinations.
Morocco
Morocco isn’t just about Marrakech. In fact, the North African country has a coastline on both the Mediterranean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, meaning beach beach BEACHES galore. Head to Oualidia, a coastal village set around a beautiful lagoon bordered with pristine golden sands.
Boracay Islands, Philippines
Another ideal destination for winter sun-seekers, the Boracay Islands are all crystal clear water, white sand, and lush vegetation. Accommodation is nearly always within steps of the beach, and affordable, too. What’s not to love?
Brb, booking a flight.
