5 Things We Learnt From Partying At The World’s Largest Phone Wall
Put that phone down and pay attention people!
Desperados continued their series of innovative global parties with an epic night in Poland as they encouraged people to put down their phones and live in the moment.
We jumped on a plane and headed over to Poland’s party capital Warsaw for the first of Desperados’ “Epic Parties Imagined by You.”
Here are the five most awesome things we learnt after partying at the world’s largest phone wall!
A Party Revolution
Desperados have proved time and time again that they are party pioneers. With past events like SkyFest: an electronic light orchestra in hot air balloons, Deep House: the world’s deepest dance floor featuring Peggy Gou and Bass Drop: a party held on a plane with zero gravity above the Nevada desert - they're no strangers to turning it up!
And this party was equally as insane! The event took place in an abandoned block of flats that had been converted into a huge house party with some of the biggest DJs and influencers in attendance. The catch? People had to swap their phones for a bottle and raved until the break of dawn.
Phones are a thing of party past
Karolina Gilon, model, influencer and mastermind behind the event explained: “I’ve been too so many parties where everyone was glued to their screens, and I thought what if our phones could make the party instead.”
Simply not having a phone was a complete game changer. We had no choice but to live in the moment, talk to people and make connections. Turns out, people IRL are awesome!
The phone wall light display blew our tiny minds
When we heard that 2000 phones would be linked together to create a mesmerising light show that synchronised with the music, we had no idea what to expect. The result: an experience so hypnotic we totally forgot about what filter to use for our next soz-not-soz selfie. The combination of the wicked techno and amazing aesthetics left party-goers in awe.
Warsaw is a must visit party destination
Poland isn’t the first place you’d think of when looking for somewhere to have a wild night, but it turns out that their banging nightlife is its best-kept secret, along with perogies (which are delish btw.)
With an amazing all-night set from local DJ heroes Last Robots, a mind-blowing light show and a crowd filled with people who know how to get low, Warsaw is definitely a must visit location for all your raving needs. Plus, the average pint of beer costing £1.25 you should book those plane tickets RN!
Stop scrolling and start dancing
We’ve all seen the vids: people ruining parties by trying to shoot the best vid for Snapchat and it’s time we finally make a change.
The biggest lesson we learnt from the experience is that these amazing moments in life are meant to be cherished. After getting past the initial urge to check my phone for pointless notifications or take another selfie it became very clear that this was the way to live. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get rid of our phone forever…
