Easyjet Sent This Girl on a Treasure Hunt - To Find Her Own Luggage
Wild goose chase, anyone?
Spare a thought for poor Fi Taylor, an Easyjet passenger who not only arrived in Essaouira, Morocco to discover that her luggage had been left behind in the UK, but was sent on a wild-goose chase to track it down.
Fi was originally informed that her bag would be flown out to join her the next day - in Marrakech. Which wouldn’t be a problem, if Marrakech weren’t a 3 hour bus ride away from Essaouira.
Nevertheless, Fi hopped on that bus and made the journey, only to be told upon arrival that her bag had missed THAT flight too. Jeez.
She told the Guardian: “On the basis that we were told it would arrive the next day, we spent the night in Marrakech, only to get a call the next day to say it would actually arrive in Essaouira after all.”
And so back they went. Can you guess what happened next? Yupppppp, in comes a text telling Fi that the bag would once again, now be arriving in Marrakech.
Unsurprisingly she refused to make the 3 hour journey AGAIN, and demanded her bag be sent to Essaouria, which it eventually was.
What. A. Mess.
The airline have apparently offered Fi £125 as compensation, and also released a statement saying: “EasyJet is the only airline in Europe with an industry-leading 'bag tracker' tool which sends SMS and email updates tracking the bag throughout its journey; we operate more than 1,700 flights per day across 31 countries and incidents of lost baggage are extremely low.”
