Escape from 9,800ft Up In the French Alps

This escape room isn’t for anyone with a fear of heights...

Escape rooms just levelled up - literally. Visitors to the Val Thorens resort in the French Alps can now take part in a newly opened ‘escape room’ style game in a cable car suspended 9,800 feet in the air. Errrr, do you WANT to escape from something that high?

Escape rooms, in case you’ve been living under a rock, (what, could you not escape?) challenge players to solve various riddles before they can break free. Sort of like Crystal Maze, without the bald guy.

This one, onboard the 150-person Cime Caron cable car ascends halfway up the mountain and then stops, giving up to 5 players an hour to riddle their way through a series of challenges related to the mountain’s history - and a 360 panoramic view of the Alps.

If you’re worried you’ll be left hanging forever though, don’t - even if you don’t manage to crack the code, you’ll still be transported back after the 60 minutes, just with an aura of defeat surrounding you.

Launched in March, the cable car escape will run until May 8 and is FREE - if you wanna play, just contact the resort’s tourist office to book a session. Wahey.
