The Thing You Should Always Do on a Plane If You Want to Avoid Jetlag
Top tip, coming right at you...
Jetlag is an absolute b*tch, oui? Whether it’s making you fall asleep at the dinner table circa 6pm or wake up earlier than the legit birds, there’s nothing fun about a f-ed up sleeping pattern.
But what can you do? Well, there’s one thing you can do on your flight to help beat the ‘lag, and it’s all to do with what - and when - you eat.
Flight attendant and travel blogger Kara Mulder reckons that adjusting your diet to the local timezone of your destination as soon as you step on that plane is the key.
"Immediately change your watch to the local time,” she writes. “Fall into a local time schedule and routine with eating and sleeping.Do not go to sleep at 1pm. Wait to fall asleep at a regular time. Your body will quickly re-adjust.
As for the in-flight meal - if they’re serving dinner at 5am local time in the place your flying to - show them the hand, honey.
"If the snack and meal service is not served on your eating schedule, go ahead and pass on the food,” says Kara.
“Pack your own healthy granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit, etc. Also, be careful and avoid foods that cause gastrointestinal distress and be careful not to overeat."
Worth a try, eh?
