This Is Why You Should NEVER Drink Tap Water On An Aeroplane
Grim...
Drinking lots of water when flying - particularly on a long haul flight - is crucial when it comes to battling dehydration, dry skin, and headaches from the cabin pressure and circulating air.
But there’s something you need to know before you opt for a glass of ‘tap’ water over bottled - and it’s pretty grim.
The Business Insider reports that flight attendants have revealed the not-so-clean truth about water tanks on airplanes, which are sanitised sporadically at best.
A study from the Environmental Protection Agency found that 12% of tested aircraft had a least one positive test for coliform - a bacteria commonly found in feces aka literal shit - and concluded that one out of every eight planes in the U.S. doesn’t meet the agency’s standards for water tank cleanliness.
Told you it was grim.
This rules out tea and coffee too (they use water, remember?), with one flight attendant telling Business Insider: “Flight attendants will not drink hot water on the plane. They will not drink plain coffee, and they will not drink plain tea."
Eek.
