Universal Orlando's New Jimmy Fallon Ride Is Mario Kart Goals
We never knew how much we loved Jimmy Fallon until we zoomed around New York with him...
When you think of Universal Orlando, you think of the biggies.
Whether you're grabbing a Duff beer with The Simpsons in Moe's Tavern, fighting Decepticons with the Transformers or running screaming from the literal Walking Dead in one of their epic horror mazes, it boasts some global stars.
So when we were invited to the opening of the resort's new Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon ride, we were intrigued if not ejaculatory.
Jimmy Fallon's a huge star, but decidedly bigger over in the US than Europe.
We're rather giddy to say not only is Jimmy Fallon our new BFF-in-waiting (he doesn't know that yet), but the ride - a mixture of 3D motion simulator and live action awesomeness - is a hilarious, fun experience for fans old and new. Here are the four things you NEED to know...
BYE BYE QUEUES
Much as we love theme parks, we don't 'arf hate queues. BOO QUEUES.
Well, hurrah for Universal Orlando's app which allows you to book in your time to arrive to the ride in advance. Cue (aha) more time to spend soaking up the sun and enjoying the park.
The attention to detail on the ride is bonkers. Upon entering the main lobby of the ride, you are given a coloured ticket displaying six colours (each matching the infamous NBC peacock).
Meanwhile, the waiting area of the ride is decked out in the style of the Tonight Show, replete with a mini museum, a brief glimpse at past show hosts and various retro memorabilia. When the NBC peacock on the wall changes colour to your ticket, you're off.
YOU'LL ACTUALLY STEP INTO AN EPISODE
As you make your way through the queue, you'll come across a mini stage, with a live performance by the Ragtime gals (cue selfie time), and can play on an array of interactive touch screen games.
Before you know it, you'll move onto the main attraction - Mr Jimmy Fallon himself (well, a digitised version, at least) who'll prep you on the ride.
RACE THROUGH NEW YORK
And then, the actual race begins. Utilising Universal's groundbreaking 3D and motion-coaster technology, you'll be flung around the city streets with Jimmy himself.
From the subtle smells of the Big Apple's pizza-filled streets to the literal wind blowing past your face as you whizz through the avenues, it's a grin-inducing laugh from start to finish. If you've ever played Mario Kart, imagine that IRL, set in New York, and with gags throughout.
It's another stunning addition to the resort's bonkers variety of rides.
Brace yourself, smiles are coming.
