Pretty Little Liars' Troian Bellisario On Her Struggles With Anorexia: "You're Slowly Killing Yourself"
Troian has since overcame her eating disorder.
Something you may not know is that Troian Bellisario battled and overcame an eating disorder when she was younger.
In an ATTN voting public service ad, the Pretty Little Liars star opened up about her fight with anorexia during her childhood, as she explained how she was 'happy' and 'carefree' before becoming ill.
The 31-year-old revealed: "With anorexia, a lot of it is about presenting a front of everything is okay, as you're slowly killing yourself.
"Gone were the days where I was just a happy, carefree kid running around and suddenly I felt this inability to interact with people and to nourish myself."
Detecting her illness early as well as the treatment that she received is what saved Troian.
She admitted: "If I had just been shunned to the side as not having 'real problems', I don't know that I would be living today."
Adding: "I just want to make sure that everybody has the same opportunity for treatment that I have, and I think that we have to make sure that our government invests in those programs."
This led onto Troian discussing the upcoming US election and how important it is for Americans to vote as Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump have such different views on mental healthcare.
