Tulisa's father, Plato Contostavlos, has told a Sunday newspaper that the sex tape allegedly leaked by the singer's ex-boyfriend has "brought the family down".
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Plato said: "What Justin [Edwards] did really brought the family down and destroyed us in some ways.
"Tulisa is strong but it seriously dented her confidence. I tried to speak to her about it but she was so upset she couldn't talke. She was in bits.
"He has ripped her heart apart."
Tulisa was forced to admit that the footage was genuine after it was leaked online and has since obtained a gagging order preventing anyone from showing the tape.
Her father, who insists that he "immediately disliked" Edwards, also known as MC Ultra, said he thought his daughter's ex was trying to "piggyback" on her N-Dubz fame.
Plato went on: "In Tulisa's eyes he was the one for her. She wanted to marry him at the time. They had even talked about having kids. She never told me why they split up but whatever happened does not excuse showing an intimate tape to the world."
Mr Contostavlos also revealed that his daughter "adores" her X Factor boss Simon Cowell, who came out in support of the former N-Dubz star.
He added: "She is very grateful to Simon for giving her the opportunity. At least he is one man she can rely on."
Tulisa is reportedly set to sue Edwards over the leaking of the intimate footage.
