Is Catastrophe The New Best Thing On TV Ever?

Channel 4's new sitcom Catastrophe premiered last night to rave reviews...

Penned by and starring British comedian Sharon Horgan and UK stand-up Rob Delaney, the series follows two singles whose surnames rhyme who enjoy a one night stand, only to find out they're going to have to live with the consequences of their night together (and a subsequent hook up in an airport stairwell) forever.

Well… we've all been there, haven't we?

No? Oh.

ANYWAY.

They make the undeniably unfathomable decision to go ahead and have a baby, based on the fact that they get on really quite well after a week of… erm… more shagging.

Will it be a Catastrophe? Only time will tell. But the series itself certainly isn't. Twitter was raving about the quick-witted, ascerbic and uncomfortably honest comedy last night. Even the famouses loved it.

Well #Catastrophe was brilliant. Amazing job @SharonHorgan @robdelaney

After Broadchurch ep 3 why not tune in to Channel 4 for gloriously good new comedy #Catastrophe with and from Sharon Horgan & Rob Delaney?

Just caught up with #Catastrophe. Don't think I've ever laughed so hard at first ep of a comedy. Brilliant work @SharonHorgan & @robdelaney

Loooved #Catastrophe last night. Most engaging (and funniest) C4 comedy for years.

@SharonHorgan @robdelaney #Catastrophe was wonderful, ribald, funny. Husband choked on his own dribble at Rob's surfing/troll/snatch line.

@SharonHorgan #Catastrophe is absolutely gas. I genuinely haven't laughed that much since the stolen kebab scene in Pulling. Well done
