Mariah Carey: American Idol Was Worst Experience Of My Life - But Nicki Minaj Beef Was Fake

Star lifts the lid on her unhappy time at TV talent show...

It's no secret that Mariah Carey didn't enjoy her time on American Idol - but the pop diva has again been spilling the beans on just how much she hated the experience.

Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show in Australia, the 45-year-old star was asked if she might consider a return to the US TV stalwart for its final run next year.

And the answer was pretty firm: "Hell, no! Absolutely not, that was the worst experience of my life.

"I'm not going to get into what it was. Let's just say, I don't think they had any intentions of us having a good experience through that show.

"Pitting two females against each other wasn't cool."

And she didn't hold back when giving her opinion of the show in general either.

"It's so boring and so fake," she declared.

"I'm sorry I just think it's — when I say it's fake, I mean like you have to make up things to say about people.

"Half the time the performances are good and you'd just be like 'It was good'. You feel like ending it there, 'It was really good'..."

And she insisted that there was no real beef between herself and rapper Nicki Minaj - despite that famous on-set video rant.

"It should have been about the contestants instead of about some non-existent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness... I would never want to be involved in it again, but everyone else can like it."

Sounds like she had a horrible time, so it's lucky she got paid a reported £11.5m for her services.
