Yesterday, Instagram dropped its new Boomerang app, and basically CHANGED THE GAME FOREVER. Allowing users to make GIFs in one ridiculously easy step, naturally, Insta fans went nuts uploading their #boomerang attempts.

2015 MTV EMA performers twenty one pilots were very quick to board the Boomerang train, speedily filling up their profile with a slew of awesome GIFs created on their current 'Blurryface' tour. Band members Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun got typically creative with their posts; a particular highlight was #MakeItGrain, a GIF of Tyler, er, throwing a loaf of sliced bread at Josh’s head. As you do…

Also this bit of crazy/creepy dancing:

And Tyler’s signature backflip captured in GIF form:

Seriously though, their #boomerang GIFs of their show in Seattle were so amazing, and got us thinking about how this little app might change the way we document our gig-going experiences. Will Boomerang mark the end of those distorted, slightly-too-loud, shaky YouTube uploads of that moment you just had to share from Wembley Arena?

Instead, will we see these neat lil’ GIFs of our fave artists doing silly things on stage? It definitely looks a bit…cooler. And is basically the Harry Potter version of gig photography.

Either way, along with the rest of the Internet, we can’t get enough GIFs and hope other musicians and celebs get involved ASAP. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for Boomerang shots of twenty one pilots’ performance afterthis Sunday’s MTV EMA (too.excited.for.words).
