New MTV Boy Band Take On Take That

US5 stars of new TMF show Big In America want to be as big as the group that spawned Robbie Williams

New boy band US5 have told MTV.co.uk they want to take the UK by storm just like Take That once did.

The boys are stars of Big In America - a fly on the wall show about the auditioning and making of a band - which originally aired in the States but is showing for the first time on TMF this evening (August 18).

The gang - made up of Brit Jay and Americans Richie, Chris, Michael and Izzy - have already had a Top 5 hit in the US and sold a whopping 1,000,000 copies of their debut single 'Maria' worldwide.

Now theyre looking to replicate their success over here. "Its tougher to crack the UK than the US in some ways - its premier league," Jay told us.

But we feel with all the guitar bands around at the moment the charts are dying for some pop again.

Take That are a big inspiration. Cos the rest of the band are from the US theyd never heard of them before, but now they love them. In five years' time we want to have reached their level of success.

For the meantime though the boys are concentrating on catching the re-filmed version of 'Big In America' for MTV UK.

Were going to a friends house tonight to watch it for the first time, its quite nerve-wracking, said Jay.

You can catch 'Big In America' on Fridays at 6.30pm on TMF.
