A man convicted in the death of Usher’s stepson has been sentenced to four years in prison.
11-year-old Kile Glover was killed while playing with a friend on an inner tube at Lake Lanier in Georgia in 2012.
Kile’s mother, Tameka Foster, was married to Usher from 2007-2009.
Kile and his friend, a 15-year-old girl, were tragically run over in the water by Jeffery Simon Hubbard, who was driving a watercraft vehicle. Both were seriously injured and Kile died two weeks later.
Last month Hubbard, who was a friend of the family, was convicted of homicide by vessel, serious injury by vessel, reckless operation, unlawful operation of personal watercraft and boat traffic violation.
His lawyer argued Hubbard tried to avoid the children in the water.
On Wednesday a judge expressed disappointment that Hubbard did not “accept more responsibility for what occurred”.
He was sentenced him to four years in prison followed by 15 years on probation.
