V Sells Out In Two Hours
Now the hunt is on for a new band to open the festival...
Tickets for V Festival 2006 went on sale this morning " and sold out in just two hours.
The speedy sell-out is a record for the event, which runs over the weekend of August 19-20 in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Morrissey and Faithless are this years headliners, but the impressive bill also boasts Radiohead, Kasabian, Hard-Fi and Razorlight.
And Road To V returns this year, offering one lucky up-and-coming band the chance to open a stage at the festival. Last years winners were The Young Knives, who have since inked a record deal and are hotly tipped for big things in 2006.
Virgin Mobile has launched a new website, www.roadtov.com, where bands can upload tracks and fans can listen and vote for their favourites. 14 bands will then be picked to compete for the single place, with a series of concerts in London and Liverpool scheduled for May where the finalists will get a chance to showcase their material.
