Vanessa Hudgens Fined $1000 For ‘Defacing Sedona Red Rock’
Vanessa posted a photo of her rock carving around Valentine's Day.
Vanessa Hudgens has reportedly had to pay $1000 in restitution for ‘defacing’ red rock in Sedona, after she carved her and Austin Butler’s names in a heart in a national forest in north Arizona around Valentine’s Day.
Vanessa found herself in a spot of bother after posting a photo of the romantic tribute on Instagram (which she's now deleted), later admitting to the carving and telling authorities where to find it. It’s reported that the heart was found around February 23.
According to the Associated Press, the payment, approved on April 19 but not made public, ‘resolves a citation issued to Hudgens on a misdemeanour count of damaging a natural feature on US Forest Service land’. Volunteer group ‘Friends of the Forest’ used the money to restore the rock wall.
Brady Smith, a spokesman for Coconino National Forest Service, said: “She was caught in the act because she publicised it and she's famous. I’m sure there are others who are not famous and publicized it and we've never known.”
Brady added that such carvings destroy the area’s natural beauty.
