This Is What It’s Like To Work Out Like A Victoria’s Secret Angel
Spoiler: it was HARD.
In the life of a lazy person, January is that month in the year where everything is a struggle. Like, genuinely everything.
Anything that doesn’t involve lying horizontally with a Netflix account sitting beside you is basically torture, so typically that leaves exercise off of the table.
But we managed to get out of our January funk thanks to Victoria’s Secret Sport, who convinced us to get off our bums and #TrainLikeAnAngel.
Yep, we were about to go full Martha Hunt in the name of fitness.
With the promise of some gorgeous VS sportswear, we went down to Holland Park to get whipped into shape by the amazing celebrity trainer Svava Sigbertsdottir.
We have to admit, we were absolutely terrified (most of our fears in life revolve around gyms), but once we got our kit on we couldn’t help but start channelling our inner Stella Maxwell.
Svava pumped up the music and got us started on some paired up boot camp-style drills.
While they looked easy when she demonstrated them – the first bit involved pushing a weight across the floor as your partner moves their weight in a circle over their head – it got difficult quickly.
And since your partner was the one who paid the price for your slowness, there was some serious pressure going on.
Next up was some hand-to-elbow planking followed by some big spring kicks, and after a couple rotations of this, we felt like our Gigi Hadid abs were within reach.
Finally, back with our partners, we got down to three sets of classic burpees mixed in with floor sprints (it just took us 15 minutes to figure out the name for 'floor sprints'. Send help.)
And yes, by this point we were the same shade as our lovely pink VS Sport vest.
Obviously, training like an Angel was NO easy feat – but we were never quite that naïve to believe it would be a walk in the park.
The likes of Joan Smalls have clearly worked insanely hard for their incredible bodies, but while we just don’t have that kind of motivation right now, at least we’ll be dressed like an Angel during our next work out.
