Vin Diesel Tells All On Marvel Studios Talks

Star reveals how he got Groot role - along with bigger plans...

Vin Diesel has been spilling the beans on his talks with Marvel Studios - revealing that he was originally discussing a bigger role than the Guardians Of The Galaxy part he has been given.
The star of the Fast & Furious movies told The Hollywood Reporter that he had originally met the Disney subsidiary to discuss appearing in a movie featuring a fresh intellectual property, possibly for release in 2016.
But the ensuing buzz after he dropped hints about it on the internet led to plans for his entry to the Marvel universe being accelerated.
"What can I say about Groot? I can say something about Marvel. I take my hat off to them for being so creative and thinking outside of the box.
"That was the focus of our conversation — a fresh IP that would come out in 2016 or 2017, and potentially launch the third phase.
"With my schedule, it was almost impossible to imagine I could do anything immediate."
And he suggested that he was now just ironing out the formalities on his casting as Groot - the tree-like alien in GOTG.
"I guess after they watched Iron Giant, or whatever, they came up with this idea of taking the strangest Marvel character - or the strangest Marvel character that's ever hit film - and thought what I could do with that with motion capture and with my voice.
"Now it's just up to my reps to allow that to happen."
