Social Media Stars React To News That Vine Is Closing Down

#RIPVine

Twitter have announced that they are to close Vine in the coming months and the news has caused a fair bit of emotion from the social media stars who found fame there.

With Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter itself dominating the market, they've decided that those 6 second looping videos just aren't cutting it any more and so will be winding down the app.

On their blog, Twitter explained: "Since 2013, millions of people have turned to Vine to laugh at loops and see creativity unfold.Today, we are sharing the news that in the coming months we’ll be discontinuing the mobile app.

"Thank you.Thank you.To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day. To the many team members over the years who made this what it was — thank you for your contributions. And of course, thank you to all of those who came to watch and laugh every day."

Ifyou're worried about your hilarious backlog of videos, don't worry as they won't be disappearing completely and for the time being, the app will continue in its current form and allow you to download all your Vines just in case.

Here's how the internet including Hayes Grierand Tyler Oakleyreacted to the news:
