Viola Beach Set For UK Top 40 Debut Following Tragic Car Accident
Viola Beach, the British band who tragically died in a car accident over the weekend could make their Official Chart Top 40 debut this Friday, after their track 'Swings & Waterslides' climbed to No.39 in today's Official Chart Update.
The Warrington band were due to support Blossoms at Guildford on Saturday but their car reportedly plunged into a canal near Stockholm in Sweden in the early hours of Saturday morning in which all members of the group comprising of Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin plus their manager Craig Tarry, were killed.
Their record label Communion have confirmed that proceeds from the sale of their singles will go to the families of the band and manager.
As public support and fan-led campaigns continue to grow, it's likely the track will chart higher when the Official UK Top 40 is revealed on Friday.
Elsewhere in today's Official Chart Update, there's no movement in the Top 5 whatsoever with Lukas Graham looking to spend a second week at No.1.
Little Mix climb one spot to No.6 with 'Secret Love Song' Ft. Jason Derulo, swapping places with Justin Bieber's 'Love Yourself' who's at No.7 so far this week. Bieber also places at No.8 with 'Sorry' while Zara Larsson looks set to crack the Top 10 with 'Lush Life' currently at No.9.
Snakehips round off the midweek update at No.10 with 'All My Friends' Ft. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper.
