[uuid=179a6ede-fc06-422a-8af3-15220a1a4071]Just days after confirming[/uuid] her performance at the 2011 MTV VMAs, Lady GaGa has announced that she will be opening the ceremony.
The You And I singer will kick off proceedings at the star-studded bash on 28th August, breaking the news to her Little Monsters using a black and white banner at an MTV HQ in Times Square yesterday.

Speaking to our US Team, GaGa stated: "I have a really big announcement, but I thought as usual, instead of me announcing it, I'd let the Little Monsters do it for me."
Her fans then revealed the banner, which read "GaGa To Open VMAs" - receiving a roar of applause from the crowds that had gathered to catch a glimpse of their idol.
When asked how she feels to be opening the VMAs, the 25-year old confessed: "It means the world to me. I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans."
In addition to performing, Lady Gaga is nominated for four Moonmen at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Female Video (Born This Way), Best Art Direction (Judas), Best Choreography (Judas) and Best Video with a Message (Born This Way).
The 28th Annual MTV Video Music Awards will be filmed at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday 28th August and shown on Monday, August 29th at 9pm on MTV UK.
