Forget one last kiss. Pink chose a cadre of ruby-red puckers for her onstage accompaniment while performing her latest single at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
Introduced by Miley Cyrus and Mac Miller, the singer stood on top of a platform amidst a sea of fans, banging on a drum pad and plucking out the melody of her 2001 single Get the Party Started on a keyboard.
As the tune transitioned to her most recent hit, Blow Me (One Last Kiss), Pink strapped into a harness (reminiscent of her 2009 gravity-defying performance of Sober) to swing across the crowd to the main stage, where backup dancers topped by pillowy pouts joined her.
The singer never stood still once during the energetic performance, transitioning from the stage to the floor level to greet fans (and getting a particularly exuberant hug from one acolyte) while the larger-than-life lips shot confetti into the audience. The performance concluded with Pink riding a giant pair of lips into the sky.
Back in August, the 32-year-old explained to MTV News the special significance of performing at the VMAs.
"My mum wouldn't let me watch MTV as a girl," she said. "I would watch it anyway, but then she'd try to ground me, but I'd just sneak out my window and go to someone's house who had MTV.
"So to be on MTV is always quite ironic, and it's one of the more enjoyable shows because everyone is kind of relaxed, and it's rock and roll and unpredictable and everyone's having a good time."
