VMAs 2005 – Green Day Lead The Way

Green Day lead the pack in the nominees stakes for this year's MTV Video Music Awards 2005.

The pop-punk trio, who have seen huge success this year with their latest album 'American Idiot' go into this year's VMAs with eight nominations, including Video Of the Year and Best Group. Green Day are also among this year's VMAs performers.

Hot on their heels are Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliot with six nods apiece, and U2 with five.

Coldplay also fly the UK flag with four nominations, while Gorillaz fight their corner with two.
