Fallout Fans Are Gonna Love This Sequel Announcement
'Wasteland 3' has been unveiled!
Before there was the post-apocalyptic wonderland that is Fallout, there was Wasteland. But just like the name, there was a 25-year space of nothing before Wasteland 2 came out in 2014 - and it was a big success. So it’s great news that Wasteland 3 has been announced as coming soon!
InXile Entertainment, the guys behind Wasteland 2, have announced the third instalment will be coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, Mac and even Linux. There will be a bit of a wait though as it’s all coming via a crowdfunding campaign.
The Wasteland 3 game will also be a party-based RPG like its predecessors. This tells the story of your character, a survivor of the Ranger squad Team November out in cold Colorado.
InXile says: “No one here has ever heard of the Desert Rangers. Your reputation is yours to build from scratch, and your choices may save this land or doom it. With a renewed focus on macro-reactivity, you'll be picking between warring factions, deciding whether locations are destroyed or saved, and other far-reaching decisions that have a marked impact on the shape of your world."
New features include a “rich single player experience”, plus a new co-op mode that includes real-time play as well as alternately playing at separate times but in the same world. So you could head off to work while your friend, who works shifts, progresses your co-op game. Team-based abilities and new vehicles will also be introduced.
Wasteland 3 will launch as a crowdfunding campaign on 5 October with a $2.75 million goal. Expect to hear more on the release date as the campaign gets closer to its goal.
