‘Wicked’ The Movie Is Finally A Thing That’s Happening
The Broadway hit is getting its very own movie adaptation, and there’s already a release date too.
It’s been quite literally years in the making, but FINALLY, one of the greatest Broadway and West End shows of all time is getting its very own movie.
Yep, Wicked is officially being adapted into a film thanks to Universal Pictures – and they’ve already given us a release date and everything.
Pencil December 20th 2019 into your diaries stat (you know, if you diary even goes as far as three years in the future), because that’s exactly when Wicked will be hitting cinema screens.
In case you’ve somehow lasted this long without knowing what the show’s about, Wicked is an alternative telling of The Wizard Of Oz that focuses on Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda the Good Witch who become unlikely friends.
Oh and it’s also got the most amazing soundtrack ever. DEFYING GRAVITY, ANYONE?
While no casting details have come to light yet, we definitely think Anna Kendrick would be our first pick for Glinda.
As for Elphaba, we are so on board with having Ariana Grande swap world tours for the big screen (for a little while, anyway).
So yeah, see you in 1,280 days, Wicked!
