Wiley Tells MTV About Label Issues

Exclusive | The Take That rapper clears up the confusion, well kind of….

Wiley has spoken to MTV News about his issues with record labels.

The Rolex rapper has split from a string of companies in the past and last year inked a deal with Island/ Universal.
However recent rumours heard at MTV Towers suggested he had been dropped by the major.
Now Wiley has told us about his dealings with the label: “I tried with Island, I did try, even though they had me under an ‘infants record deal’.
“And I did try bro, but in the end I realised this- I don’t actually need them. All they wanted was (single) Take That."
The Roll Deep member- who has previously been signed to Big Dada, Atlantic and XL- continued: “They (Island) was longing me out bro. And the amount of music I showed them, that lead me to just… I had to walk. Now if ‘this label’ ring me and say ‘Wiley we wanna do that’ then… I’m in talks.
“I’ve just got another single that’s gonna come out on Back-Yard (Records). But I’m trying to concentrate on the other (Roll Deep) stuff and not Wiley for a sec.”
Roll Deep’s single Good Times looks set to crash into the UK charts this week and could even score a number one spot. Look out for more from our Roll Deep interview soon…
